Wandsworth Hospital 1915, during the
Great War - The main building is the Royal
Victoria Patriotic Building built 1857 for Crimean
War orphans. It has a varied history,
a detention and interrogation centre during WW2 and then
in the 1950s part of Spencer Park Comprehensive School
which was joined by the former Wandsworth Boy's School in
the 1980s to form John Archer School (closed August
1991), it now houses the Academy of Live and
Recorded Arts (ALRA), flats, studios, workshops,
restaurant, etc. The vast extensions behind the main
building gives some idea of the horrors of the 1914-1918
War. Windmill Road and the railway run diagonally across
the bottom left corner and Trinity Road runs diagonally
across the bottom right corner of this view. »»» See this link for more info on the hospital. |

| Wandsworth Hospital - Ward 2 - Christmas 1905 [if I read the caption correctly]. This looks like a Tuberculosis ward to me, probably the major cause of death for younger men before the first world war. | ||
