July 2007 - I have just heard of the recent death of Peter, my condolences to his family. Peter will be remembered by many Battersea Boys and Girls for his contributions to the “Old Battersea” web group

Winstead Street was between Surrey Lane and Westbridge Road, it is now lost to development.

One of the original 4 chimneys of Lott's Road Power Station has already been demolished. The count has since reduced to 2.

Peter Eldridge on the slipway in the 1980s
Works outing of H. Hackers in 1955 assembling in Cairns Road of Northcote Road, Hackers were located to the left down an alley. A small cafe down the road was "The Hole in the Wall". The 19 buses turned here but were clearly delayed that day

Nowadays the 19 bus gets no further south than Battersea Bridge but then it went as far as Tooting Bec with some buses turning at the Northcote and thus using Auckland and Cairns roads.
