In 1814 the transport ship, the Queen, bringing soldiers and their families back from the Peninsular War in Spain was driven on the rocks by a storm here. Almost all those aboard were drowned. There is a memorial in Mylor churchyard. According to the web site Divernet a marine monster named Morgawr has been sighted here. Then bombs fell here during WW2 on the night 12-13th July 1940. A dangerous place!
